A 12-year-old boy was killed Monday in a two- vehicle collision in Santa Fe Springs and his father was detained at the scene on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
The crash occurred around 5:30 p.m. in the area of Slauson Avenue and Dice Road, according to the Whittier Police Department, which also serves Santa Fe Springs.
The boy and another male patient were taken to a hospital, where the boy died in an emergency room, according to the Santa Fe Springs Fire Department.
The boy’s father, who was driving the vehicle they were traveling in, was being investigated for DUI, police said. There was no immediate report of his arrest as of Monday night.
