A fire at a Coachella home displaced six residents Wednesday before crews contained the flames to a bedroom closet.
The noninjury fire broke out at 5:48 a.m., sending four adults and two children from their home in the 49000 block of Polk Street.
County firefighters found light smoke showing from the single-story home, leading them to a closet, where the flames were snuffed out at 6:20 a.m., said April Newman of the Riverside County Fire Department.
The fire caused an estimated $40,000 in damage to the residence, according to Newman.
