A motorcyclist was critically injured in a collision with a Honda sedan in Torrance, police said Tuesday.
“It appears the Honda sedan was attempting to make a right turn onto eastbound Emerald Street from an improper lane position when it collided with the motorcyclist,” said Torrance Police Lt. Jeremiah Hart.
Officers dispatched a little after 5:40 p.m. Sunday to Hawthorne Boulevard and Emerald Street reported that a 2003 Honda Accord driven by a 52- year-old woman had struck a 2007 Honda CBR600 motorcycle driven by a 52-year- old man. Both motorists were residents of Torrance, Hart said.
Both vehicles were going northbound on Hawthorne Boulevard, approaching Emerald Street, when the crash occurred, he said.
The motorcyclist was rushed to an area hospital in critical condition. The woman, the lone occupant inside the Honda Accord, was not injured. Alcohol or drugs do not appear to have been factors in the crash, police said.
The Torrance Police Department’s Traffic Division asked anyone who saw the crash to call them at (310) 618-5557.
