A man in his 40s was shot and wounded in a 7-Eleven parking lot in the Wilshire District during some kind of altercation Sunday, a Los Angeles police sergeant said.

The shooting took place about 12:50 p.m. at a 7-Eleven at the corner of San Vicente and Hauser boulevards, LAPD Sgt. Matt McNulty said.

The wounded man was transported to a hospital. He was last reported in stable condition.

The shooter fled the scene. A motive for the shooting was unknown.
