A 40-year-old man who was shot to death in an unincorporated area bordering Whittier was identified Tuesday by the coroner’s office, authorities said.
The shooting took place around 12 a.m. Monday in the 10700 block of Balfour Street, said Deputy Charles Moore. Fernando Garcia was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Moore and the coroner’s office.
A motive for the shooting was unknown. No suspect description was available.
Homicide detectives were investigating, Moore said.
