A probationer and two boys who allegedly tried to force their way into a Murrieta woman’s home until her shouts turned them away were behind bars Thursday.

Jeremiah Daniel Sosa, 20, and two juveniles, one 16 and the other 17 years old, were arrested Wednesday on suspicion of attempted burglary and conspiracy. Sosa was additionally booked for alleged probation violations and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

He’s being held in lieu of $35,000 bail at the Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta, while the boys are both being held at Riverside Juvenile Hall.

According to Murrieta police Lt. Jon Flavin, the alleged attempted break-in happened about 2 p.m. in the 24300 block of Lenox Lane, near Vineyard Parkway.

Flavin said the suspects went to the front door of the house and knocked, and when there was no immediate answer, they allegedly made their way into the backyard, where they tried to force open a rear door.

The homeowner, identified only as a Murrieta woman, yelled at the suspects, at which point they ran back to the front of the house to a parked vehicle, speeding away, Flavin alleged.

He said the victim called 911 and provided a description of the vehicle, and patrol officers spotted it a short time later in the area of  Los Alamos Road and Monroe Avenue.

Officers stopped the car and arrested the trio without incident. Flavin said Sosa was confirmed to be on probation for an auto theft conviction. There was no information about the two teenagers.

According to the lieutenant, daytime burglaries have been on the rise in Murrieta and elsewhere in the region, and property owners should take precautions.
