One of two people seriously injured when their SUV slammed into a wall on the Pomona (60) Freeway and overturned in Diamond Bar died at a Pomona hospital, authorities said Monday.
The crash occurred about 6:25 p.m. Sunday on the westbound 60 Freeway near the Brea Canyon Road onramp, CHP Officer Alex Rubio said.
A driver made a lane change from the No. 4 lane to the No. 3 lane. An 18-year-old woman from Ontario who was a passenger in the 4Runner died at Pomona Valley Hospital from her injuries. Her name was not immediately released.
Alena Reyes Greendale, 18, of Ontario suffered major injuries and was taken to Pomona Valley Hospital, the officer said. Barksdale was taken to the same hospital with a complaint of pain.
The crash temporarily shut down the Brea Canyon Road onramp and the transition road from the northbound Orange (57) Freeway to the westbound 60 Freeway.
The CHP issued a SigAlert at 6:45 p.m., Rubio said. The Brea Canyon Road onramp was reopened about 7:20 p.m. and the transition road was cleared at 9:02 p.m. and the SigAlert canceled.
