Sgt. Chad Fountain said patrol officers summoned to the scene initially believed that the victim was a pedestrian who had been struck by a car, but further investigation revealed that Williams had been attacked.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. It was unclear how long he had been lying in the middle of the roadway before he was discovered.

“The investigation is ongoing, and further details are not available at this time,” Fountain said.

Anyone with information was asked to call Detective Jesse Jurado at (951) 279-3628.
