A woman who was killed in Palmdale when an SUV was hit by a carjacked vehicle driven by a teenage girl was identified Tuesday as a 37-year-old resident of Lancaster.

Deputies responded just after 2:20 p.m. Sunday to the 37100 block of 47th Street East on a report of a carjacking. Shortly afterward, another deputy spotted the stolen vehicle and began chasing it. Then, in the 40100 block of 10th Street West, the carjacked vehicle crashed into an SUV containing two adults, two teenage boys, and an infant, the sheriff’s department reported.

Christine Jackson died at a hospital, the coroner’s office reported. The other four occupants of the SUV were taken to a hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.

The teenage driver of the stolen vehicle was treated at a hospital, and charges were pending against her. Her name was not released because she is a juvenile.
