Law officers asked for the public’s help Sunday to find a 23-year-old convicted robber, who walked away from a re-entry facility in Long Beach.

An emergency search for Christopher Pinon began around 3:25 p.m. Friday, when authorities were notified that Pinon’s GPS device had been tampered with, according to Vicky Waters of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

Pinon’s GPS device was found in a trash can near Main Street and Washington Boulevard in Los Angeles, Waters said.

Pinon is described 5 feet-6 inches tall and 190 pounds. He was wearing a black hat, gray sweatpants, a gray jacket, a black T-shirt and black shoes.

Pinon was received by the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation from Los Angeles County on July 18, 2017, with a three-year sentence for second-degree robbery, according to Waters.

Pinon was transferred from Wasco State Prison to the Male Community Reentry Program on Jan. 16, she said. He was scheduled to be released to probation in November.

The corrections officials asked anyone who sees Pinon or has any knowledge of his whereabouts to immediately call 911. Tipsters can also call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
