Sheriff’s detectives confirmed Monday they looked into an allegation that Justin Bieber, while in the Coachella Valley for the Coachella music festival, punched a man at a party in La Quinta, but said the singer has not been arrested or even confirmed as a participant in the scuffle.
TMZ.com reported that Bieber was defending a woman who was being choked by an unidentified man who apparently let her go after the singer punched him in the face. The man was later seen chasing an SUV that he believed Bieber was in, according to TMZ.
The 24-year-old singer was allegedly at a home in the 81500 block of Baffin Avenue on Saturday when deputies responded at 6:40 p.m. to a report of a battery and met with residential security personnel at the scene.
Deputies contacted the reporting party, “who declined to press charges for the alleged battery and had no visible injuries at the time of police contact,” according to Deputy Armando Munoz.
Sheriff’s officials say the alleged victim identified Bieber as a participant in the fight, but that no other witnesses or statements have confirmed the singer’s involvement, nor have investigators found any “evidence of a battery.” Bieber was not at the home when deputies got there.
