A Moreno Valley high school principal and former Banning school teacher was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of sexually abusing a young boy in Yucaipa, and San Bernardino County authorities said there may be additional alleged victims.
Sean Michael McMurray, 42, of Riverside, is accused of sexually assaulting the child “on multiple occasions” in Yucaipa between 2013 and 2015, the same time period that he was employed as a teacher within the Banning Unified School District, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
An investigation of McMurray, current principal at March Mountain High School in Moreno Valley, began in February, when the juvenile reported the alleged abuse to sheriff’s deputies.
The child’s age at the time of the alleged abuse was not disclosed, but McMurray was booked on suspicion of lewd acts with a child under 14 years old and continuous sexual abuse of a child. He’s being held in lieu of $1 million bail.
The boy’s connection to McMurray was unclear, as deputies say he was not a student of McMurray’s, nor did he attend any of the schools where McMurray worked.
Anyone with information regarding the current investigation or possible additional victims was asked to call the Yucaipa Detectives Division at (909) 918-2305 or the We-Tip Hotline at (800) 782-7463 to remain anonymous.
