Sheriff’s deputies jailed six, young teenage burglary suspects and recovered two guns in Altadena, a sergeant said.
The boys range in age from 12 to 15-years-old, and they were arrested Sunday, according to sheriff’s Sgt. Jerry Montenegro. Detectives also recovered an AR-15 rifle, a pistol and ammunition.
The arrests were sparked by two burgled homes in the area of Mountain View Street and Casitas Avenue, according to Montenegro.
The first burglary took place in the 500 block of Mountain View Street about 2:15 p.m. Sunday. The second took place about 45 minutes later in the 600 block of Mountain Views, Montenegro continued.
Arriving deputies at the second location caught one of the youngsters out front and placed him in custody, Montenegro said. While the deputies were there, they got a call saying two other young men were running through back yards. Those two were also arrested.
Two others were later tracked down and arrested in the area. And the sixth suspect was nabbed Sunday evening at the Hathaway Sycamore Child and Family Services group home in Altadena, he added.
All of the suspects lived at that home.
During the first burglary two guns were stolen from that house, Montenegro said. Those weapons have not yet been recovered.
All six boys were booked on suspicion of burglary. Their names were not released because of their ages.
