A man accused of shooting an acquaintance in his Calimesa mobile home was charged Monday with attempted murder.
Scott Edward Beck, 53, was arrested Thursday after the alleged attack in the 8600 block of Calimesa Boulevard, near Wildwood Canyon Road.
He was held in lieu of $2 million bail at the Smith Correctional Facility in Banning and was slated to make his initial court appearance Monday afternoon at the Banning Justice Center mo the attempted murder count, with sentence-enhancing gun and great bodily injury allegations.
According to Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Richard Carroll, Beck allegedly pulled a handgun and shot the victim, whose name was not released, after they got into a dispute inside the defendant’s mobile home about 6:30 a.m. Thursday.
Deputies were sent to the location in response to 911 calls and found the victim lying on the floor, suffering from a serious wound to the upper body, Carroll said.
He said Beck was on the property and was arrested without a struggle.
The nature of the dispute was not disclosed.
The victim was taken to San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital, where he’s recovering.
According to court records, Beck has a prior misdemeanor conviction for driving without a license.
