A man who apparently fell or was pushed from an apartment window Monday morning in West Hollywood appeared to have been injured before plunging to his death, authorities said.
Deputies initially responded to the scene because a stabbing was reported, and they found the man dead about 6:55 a.m. in the 1100 block of Hacienda Place, near La Cienega Boulevard, according to the sheriff’s department.
“There is evidence the victim was injured before he fell to his death,” according to a sheriff’s department statement. “Whether that injury was self-inflicted or at the hands of another is still under investigation.”
Sheriff’s Lt. Derrick Alfred told ABC7 that there were signs of a struggle or scuffle from inside the apartment, and detectives were working to determine if the fall was intentional or accidental.
An autopsy was pending to determine the man’s cause of death. Investigators are uncertain if the man’s death was a suicide, homicide or accidental.
Anyone with information on the case was urged to call the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
