A known gang member is in jail Saturday after police found drugs inside his home.
Pomona Police and Los Angeles County Probation Department officers working gang enforcement near the intersection of North Towne Avenue and Harrison Street in Claremont at 5 p.m. Friday made contact with the suspect, Phillip Torres, according to a statement from the Pomona Police Department.
Officers advised Torres they would be conducting a compliance check to ensure he didn’t have anything illegal, the statement said.
Torres, 27, from Claremont, became visibly nervous and told officers he had a large amount of narcotics hidden in his bedroom, the statement said.
Officers searched Torres’ bedroom and found 4 ounces of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, police said.
Torres was booked at the Pomona City Jail on a drug charge and parole violation.
