The coroner Sunday publicly identified the motorist killed in Torrance when he crashed a black Audi into a tree.
Jarrett Gatson, 27, was pronounced dead at the scene, the coroner said.
Gatson was westbound on Pacific Coast Highway at 2:13 a.m. Saturday when he struck a tree on the north side of the road west of Madison Street, Torrance police Lt. Jeremiah Hart said.
Pacific Coast Highway between Madison Street and Hawthorne Boulevard was closed for about six hours during the investigation, he said.
