Investigators Friday sought additional witnesses in an alleged case of indecent exposure and sexual battery at a Cerritos grocery store.

Deputies responded an indecent exposure call about 6 p.m. Monday at the Sprouts store in the 11900 block of South Street, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

“A preliminary investigation revealed the suspect exposed himself and sexually battered a female adult victim, who was shopping at the grocery store,” Viera said. “The victim immediately notified an employee at the store, who then notified (the) Cerritos sheriff’s station.”

According to a sheriff’s bulletin, Tejeda allegedly grabbed the victim’s buttocks while she was shopping and when the woman went to report it to the store manager, “the suspect began to masturbate while watching another female customer shop.”

The store manager was able to detain the suspect until deputies arrived.

Daniel Tejeda, 25, a possible transient whose last known address was in Buena Park, was arrested and booked on suspicion of indecent exposure and sexual battery, with bail set at $10,000, Viera said.

Detectives are seeking additional witnesses and asked anyone with information about the case to call Detective Sgt. Gilbert Ramirez of the Cerritos Station at (562) 860-0044.
