Deputies found meth, drug paraphernalia and illegal gambling and arrested five people when they raided a Jurupa Valley business, a sheriff’s sergeant said Saturday.
A search warrant was served at 1 p.m. Friday by Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies and special agents from the California Department of Justice at a business in the 5000 block of Mission Boulevard, Sgt. Donovan Brooks said.
Authorities had received various complaints about illegal gambling activity going on at the location and described it as an “illegal gambling cafe,” according to Brooks.
During the raid, five Jurupa Valley residents — including several patrons of the business, as well as the business operator — were arrested on suspicion of various crimes.
George Edward Ayala, 25, was arrested on suspicion of obstructing a peace officer, possession of drug paraphernalia and violating parole; Eddie Green, 33, on suspicion of having an outstanding felony warrant; Tijuana Lenoir, 55, on suspicion of illegal gambling and possession of drug paraphernalia; Julio Alberto Nevariz, 41, on suspicion of operating an illegal gambling business and possession of methamphetamine; and Julio Alberto Nevariz Jr., 18, on suspicion of illegal gambling.
“During the investigation, evidence was located that supported the claims by business owners the business was operating as a gambling establishment,” Brooks said.
