A man was shot and killed in Anaheim at the scene of what police believe was a NOS party where participants use nitrous oxide, which is also known as laughing gas.

The shooting was reported at 11:19 a.m. Saturday on the 1200 block of North Sunshine Way, according to Sgt. Daron Wyatt, public information officer for the Anaheim Police Department.

Responding officers found a man, believed to be in his 30s, who had suffered at least one gunshot wound overnight and was pronounced dead at the scene, Wyatt said.

Evidence at the scene indicated there “was a large NOS party in the street where the murder occurred,” Wyatt said. “Detectives believe it is highly likely there are attendees of the party who have pictures and/or video of the party.

“Detectives are asking anyone who was there or who has pictures or video to please contact OC Crime Stoppers, even if they do not know about the murder.”

No further information about the shooting was available.

Inhaling nitrous oxide has become one of the most popular recreational drugs among teenagers and young adults,” international experts report. It is often used as a party drug by people hoping to experience the hallucinations and feelings of euphoria it can generate.
