The Los Angeles Kings will hold Salute to Service Night Saturday evening, demonstrating their appreciation for and commitment to supporting local active duty and retired members of the armed forces.

One member of each branch of the United States armed forces and a Canadian Armed Forces member will be honored as the Heroes of the Game against the Calgary Flames at Staples Center.

The Kings will wear camouflage jerseys during the pregame warm-up. The jerseys will be available for auction Saturday at LAKings.com/auction or by texting the keyword KINGS to 52182.

Proceeds of the auction will benefit the Kings Care Foundation, the team’s nonprofit children’s charity.

More than 600 military members and their families will be invited to attend the game through the team’s Seats for Soldiers campaign.

More than 30 expectant couples stationed locally will be treated to a Military Baby Shower in a decorated and catered Staples Center suite.

The game is also the third in the Kings’ five-game food drive, benefiting Friends & Helpers, which helps provide support and education for domestic abuse victims.

Suggested food items to donate include, but are not limited to, pasta, peanut butter and jelly, granola bars, soups, pancake mix, syrup, canned fruits and vegetables, rice and beans.

For each item donated, donors will receive a ticket for a raffle for a Kings player-signed puck and two tickets to the “Almost Acoustic Christmas” concerts at the Forum Dec. 8-9.

All items donated are delivered immediately following collection to the families served by Friends & Helpers.

Collection sites will be located at all major entrances starting two hours before the start of the game, concluding at the opening faceoff.

The drive will also be held at games Tuesday and Nov. 21.
