A man is hospitalized in critical condition Tuesday after a possible stabbing in Orange.

The victim, a 27-year-old man who resides in Orange, suffered a wound to his upper body, said Lt. Fred Lopez of the Orange Police Department. He was taken to UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange, where he is in critical condition but expected to survive, said Lopez.

Police received a call about a possible commercial burglary at 8:36 p.m. at the corner of North Orange Street and East Chapman Avenue that turned out to be false. Another call came in from the same location shortly thereafter regarding a man in front of Watson’s Soda Fountain & Cafe on Chapman, where the victim was found bleeding by the Orange Fire Department.

Lopez said it was unclear what kind of stabbing weapon caused the wound and that no weapon has been recovered. There are no leads on a suspect.

Anyone with information on the assault was urged to contact the Orange Police Department at (714) 744-7444.
