Three people were arrested in a city-wide operation looking for drunk drivers in Pasadena, authorities said Saturday morning.
Specially trained officers conducted the operation from 6 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Saturday and arrested two people on suspicion of DUI and one for driving without a driver’s license, according to Lt. Mark Goodman of the Pasadena Police Department. Another 33 citations were issued for traffic violations.
“The number of DUI arrests… suggests that people are listening to DUI education and prevention efforts and are using taxi or ride share services,” Goodman said. “Planning ahead is the key to staying safe when out on the town.”
Individuals caught driving impaired and charged with DUI can expect the impact of such an arrest to be approximately $13,500, Goodman said. This includes fines, fees, DUI classes, license suspension and other expenses not to mention possible jail time.
Pasadena police also warned drivers that DUI doesn’t just mean alcohol. Prescription drugs and marijuana can also impair a driver’s ability and result in a DUI charge.
