Authorities Tuesday released the name of a 17-year-old boy who was killed in a robbery at a Santa Ana automotive business in which two of his alleged accomplices were also shot.

Natanael Perez of Santa Ana was fatally shot just before 3:45 p.m. Sunday at Pro Audio Wheels and Tires at 2015 W. 17th St., said Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna.

Two other robbery suspects, whose names and ages were withheld, were also shot by someone in the store, Bertagna said. One of those men is in grave condition and the other is expected to survive, Bertagna said.

It’s unclear whether the shooter was an employee or patron of the store. Bertagna would only say that the man has been questioned by police.

He identified Perez and the two other suspected robbers as documented street gang members and said detectives are also seeking other possible suspects involved in the robbery.

“Three or more individuals entered one of the businesses there and attempted to commit an armed robbery, and after the commission of that robbery, three of the however many people who entered the store to rob it… got shot by someone in the store,” Bertagna said.

Anyone who has helpful information for investigators was asked to call detectives at (714) 245-8390. Orange County Crime Stoppers will accept anonymous tips at (855) TIP-OCCS.
