A known gang member from Pomona was behind bars Friday morning on suspicion of carrying a concealed and unregistered loaded gun.
Members of the Pomona Police Department’s Major Crimes Task Force and California Highway Patrol officers working gang suppression in the 1400 block of West Ninth Street stopped Christian Chavez around 8:20 p.m. Thursday for suspicion of public intoxication and found a loaded .38-caliber pistol in his pocket, according to Pomona Police Department Cpl. J. Hernandez.
Chavez, 26, was immediately arrested and later booked at the Pomona city jail, Hernandez said.
