A parolee accused of fatally beating a 22-year-old Riverside man was being held without bail Thursday.
Kelvin Trayvone Taylor, 25, of Riverside was arrested and booked Wednesday into the Indio Jail on suspicion of murder and parole violations for the death of Jordan Love.
According to Riverside police Officer Ryan Railsback, Love was attacked on the evening of Feb. 8 in the 7400 block of El Sol Way, near Madison Street, in an area of the city known as Casa Blanca.
Railsback said that passers-by spotted the victim lying unconscious on the cul de sac and called 911.
Paramedics determined Love had suffered “major trauma to the head” and had him taken to Riverside Community Hospital for treatment, Railsback said.
He said the victim never regained consciousness and died four days later.
Homicide detectives began collecting evidence and speaking with potential witnesses, eventually identifying Taylor as the alleged assailant, according to Railsback.
The convicted felon was taken into custody without a struggle Wednesday afternoon on Limonite Avenue in Jurupa Valley.
A possible motive for the attack was not disclosed.
According to court records, Taylor has prior convictions for armed robbery, possession of an assault rifle and grand theft.
