A woman was hospitalized Wednesday morning with injuries she suffered when she was struck by a vehicle while crossing a street in Santa Ana outside a crosswalk, police said.
Officers responded about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday to the crash in the 1500 block of East First Street and located the victim, who was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries, according to the Santa Ana Police Department.
The driver was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs, stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said.
The impact of the crash sent the woman flying about 50 feet, a news photographer reported from the scene.
The age and name of the victim were not released.
