Police captured three armed Compton residents who allegedly robbed a pharmacy in Claremont and led officers on a short vehicle chase, followed by a shorter foot pursuit, a police sergeant said Sunday.
Police responded to the Claremont Pharmacy, 358 S. Indian Hill Blvd., a little after 11:10 a.m. Saturday regarding three people who went into the business wearing hooded sweatshirts and masks, said Claremont police Sgt. Robert Ewing.
“Responding officers located the suspect vehicle as it was leaving and a pursuit ensued,” Ewing said. “The investigation later revealed that an armed robbery had occurred at the business.”
The three suspects led officers on a short pursuit, which ended at the top of the onramp of the westbound San Bernardino (10) Freeway at Vinton Avenue in Pomona, where the suspects fled from the vehicle on foot and were captured a short distance away, he said.
A loaded 9mm handgun — which was reported stolen from a residential robbery in Gardena — was recovered at the scene along with some stolen property from the pharmacy in Claremont, he said.
Dominiqe Dewann Thompson, 30, was arrested on suspicion of armed robbery, kidnapping, resisting arrest and possession of a controlled substance. Curtis Wayne Houston, 34, was arrested on suspicion of armed robbery, kidnapping, vehicle pursuit, resisting arrest and possession of a controlled substance.
Also, Eugene Darryl Halcromb, 30, was arrested on suspicion of armed robbery, kidnapping, resisting arrest, possession of a stolen gun and possession of a controlled substance.
All three arrestees were residents of Compton, Ewing said.
Claremont police asked anyone with any information regarding the robbery to call them at 909-399-5411.
