A judge is scheduled to determine Monday whether a man arrested in Thousand Palms earlier this year for allegedly raping two children a decade ago will have to stand trial.
John Clement Williams, 53, was arrested in January 23 by the Cathedral City Police Department near the intersection of Boca Chica and Sundance roads in Thousand Palms on suspicion of sexually assaulting two girls under the age of 14 in 2008 and 2009.
Williams, who pleaded not guilty in February to six counts of lewd acts with a minor, is due for a preliminary hearing at the Larson Justice Center in Indio Monday morning. The hearing will enable a judge to determine if a trial is warranted.
Williams remains held in lieu of $1 million bail at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning, jail records show.
