A suspected reckless driver who led authorities on a pursuit through Compton, jumped from the vehicle while it was moving, then ran into a neighborhood was in custody Thursday morning.
The suspect jumped through the window of the vehicle in the 300 block of Elm Street, near Alameda Avenue, around 10 p.m. Wednesday. It continued to move until it hit a parked car and overturned, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Video from KCAL9 showed the driver leaping from the vehicle, rolling on the ground, then running off.
A K-9 was brought in to assist deputies from Century and East Los Angeles stations in a search of the area for the suspect, who was taken into custody before midnight, the sheriff’s department said.
Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics were called in to examine the suspect before he was arrested, authorities said.
It was unclear when and where the pursuit began.
