
Firefighters called to put out a fire aboard a 35-foot cabin cruiser at Terminal Island Monday found a person dead inside, authorities said.
Firefighters were called at 4:05 a.m. to Berth 258 at the Port of Los Angeles at Terminal Island, Los Angles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey said.
The boat was well-involved in flames when firefighters arrived, Humphrey said. They put out the flames in 16 minutes, then discovered a person deceased aboard the boat, which was still afloat, he said.
No details about the victim were reported.
No other injuries were reported and firefighters were conducting a detailed search of the boat, Humphrey said.
