A 64-year-old man was arrested Thursday on suspicion of trying to stab an Orange County sheriff’s deputy with scissors before leading deputies on a chase from Mission Viejo to Anaheim.
Masood Sadighozakerini was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and felony evading, said Jaimee Blashaw, a spokeswoman for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
A deputy doing routine business checks at La Paz Road and Muirlands Boulevard at about 1 a.m. saw a “suspicious” man in a vehicle, Blashaw said. When the deputy approached the man, he lurched out of the vehicle and attempted to stab the deputy with scissors, Blashaw said.
Then the suspect jumped back into his car and led deputies on a chase that ended near Katella Avenue and State College Boulevard in Anaheim, where California Highway Patrol officers used a spike strip to disable the car, Blashaw said.
