Two men were stabbed Saturday in a fight between two large groups outside a Gaslamp neighborhood nightclub, police said.
The two groups of men were ejected from the Phantom nightclub at about 2 a.m. and got into a fight in the street, said Officer Tony Martinez of the San Diego Police Department.
During the street fight, two men were stabbed, Martinez said. One man, 22, was stabbed in the abdomen and taken to the hospital. The other man, 24, received cuts to his stomach, arms and hands.
“He was uncooperative with the police and refused medical treatment,” Martinez said. A few minutes later the man was contacted in the 1200 block of Third Avenue and he fought with the police, allegedly head-butting an officer and trying to gouge out the eyes of another officer.
The suspect was taken into custody and transported to the hospital for treatment of the stabbing injuries.
“Both victims were uncooperative and refused to provide a description of the stabbing suspect,” Martinez said.
Central Division detectives responded to the scene and will be handling the investigation.
