A 50-year-old man was killed Wednesday morning in a hit-and-run crash in Claremont and the driver was at large.

The accident was first reported about 2:30 a.m. on Towne Avenue near Syracuse Drive, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

“At this time, we have no eyewitnesses,” Sgt. David Demetz of the Claremont Police Department told NBC4. “We haven’t been able to find video surveillance, although we’re trying to work on any possible leads.”

The station also reported Los Angeles County firefighters came across the body as they were returning from another call.

The name of the victim was not disclosed.

A detailed description of the driver and the vehicle were not immediately available.
