Two people hospitalized with wounds suffered in a shooting in a homeless encampment in downtown Los Angeles remained hospitalized Saturday, authorities said..

The gunfire was first reported about 8:30 p.m. Friday near the intersection of Figueroa and Temple streets, near the Hollywood (101) Freeway, Officer Jeff Lee of the Los Angeles Police Department said.

The victims were taken to a hospital where their vital signs were stable, according to Officer Drake Madison of the LAPD’s Media Relations Section.

A detailed description of the shooter was not available.
