A 57-year-old inmate at the Theo Lacy Facility in Orange died from injuries sustained in a fight with another prisoner, a sheriff’s spokeswoman said Sunday.
Kirk Price, who was arrested on suspicion of murder and being a felon in possession of a firearm, was pronounced dead at approximately 4 p.m. Saturday at an area hospital, according to Carrie Braun of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
He suffered injuries during a Dec. 27 fight with another inmate and had been transferred to the hospital for treatment, Braun said.
Price was originally booked into the Orange County Jail on March 25 by the Tustin Police Department.
The Orange County District Attorney’s Office will investigate the in-custody death, and the Orange County Sheriff’s Department will conduct an in-custody death review.
