The suspicious device that prompted a bomb squad response and evacuations in two Torrance businesses Monday was not explosive.
Torrance Police Department officers responded about 4:50 p.m. to a Ralphs grocery store in the 3400 block of Sepulveda Boulevard, near the Del Amo Fashion Center, to a call about a possible bomb in a vehicle, according to the Torrance Police Department. The person in the vehicle cooperated with officers.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department bomb squad assisted in the investigation, and the device was determined to not be explosive, according to police.
The incident prompted the evacuation of the Ralphs and a nearby brewery, police said.
