A man in his late 50s was fatally struck by a Metro E Line train in Santa Monica Sunday, a police sergeant said.

“The pedestrian crossed the street, in the crosswalk, walked into the path of the train, which had the right of way,” said Sgt. Duane Hicks of the Santa Monica Police Department.

The crashed occurred about 6:05 a.m. in the area of Lincoln Boulevard and Colorado Avenue, Hicks said.

Paramedics rushed the man to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, where he later died from his injuries.
