Authorities Thursday chased a motorist in a reported stolen car from Long Beach to San Pedro, where the man ran into a neighborhood and was being sought.

The chase, which began about 6 a.m., went from the Artesia (91) Freeway to the southbound Long Beach (710) Freeway and onto westbound Ocean Boulevard and into San Pedro.

Along the way, police tried to spin out the car on a surface street, but it kept going, eventually circling around in a neighborhood near First Street and Cabrillo Avenue, where it stopped about 6:40 a.m. and the driver got out and ran into a residence.

About 20 minutes later, a man thought to have been the suspect came out of the residence and surrendered to police.

However, as of about 8 a.m., police were still looking for the suspect, according to KTLA5.
