A man who was rescued from the second floor of a burning vacant and boarded-up two-story home in East Hollywood was hospitalized in critical condition Thursday morning.
Firefighters responded to the 600 block of North Ardmore Avenue, south of Melrose Avenue, about 9:45 p.m. Wednesday and encountered heavy fire coming from the 3,064-square-foot structure, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
“(A man) was rescued from the second floor of the inferno by LAFD firefighters and has been taken to a hospital in critical condition with unspecified injuries,” Humphrey said Wednesday night. No firefighters were injured.
A total of 62 firefighters needed 28 minutes to confine and extinguish the flames, he said.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
