A Pomona Police Department sergeant retired Thursday after 28 years at the department.
Sgt. Patrick O’Malley was sworn-in as a Pomona Police officer in 1993. His experience at the department includes patrol, field training, traffic and detective work, according to the Pomona Police Department.
His efforts and dedication to the traffic bureau awarded him the Medal of Merit from the department and in 2006, he was promoted to sergeant, police reported.
After six years, he was assigned to the detective bureau to oversee homicide investigations.
O’Malley’s most recent position was as patrol sergeant.
The Pomona Police Department wrote that he will be remembered by his peers as “passionate, proactive and energetic.”
