A man was fatally stabbed Thursday during a fight in Lancaster.

Deputies were responding to a prowler call on Cedar Avenue, near West Avenue J-4, about 11 a.m. when they received additional information that there was a fight happening nearby, according to Deputy Erin Liu of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

Deputies arrived at the scene in the 44200 block of Cedar Avenue and found an unresponsive man lying on the ground, suffering from apparent stab wounds to his upper body. The victim was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Liu said.

The circumstances of the stabbing were under investigation, and deputies detained one person at the scene for questioning, according to Liu.

The victim’s name was withheld pending notification of his family.
