Firefighters Sunday morning quickly doused a small fire just inside the front door of a two-story church in Van Nuys.

Firefighters were dispatched at 6:25 a.m. to 6514 N. Sylmar Ave. and had the fire out within 21 minutes of their arrival, said Nicholas Prange of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

“Per protocol for house of worship structure fire, arson investigators have been attached to the incident,” Prange said.

No injuries were reported and a cause of the fire was under investigation.
