Two big rigs and a pickup truck were involved in a fiery crash on the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway in Burbank Tuesday morning and a stretch of the freeway was closed until further notice.

The crash was reported about 1:50 a.m. near Burbank Boulevard and spread debris across all lanes of the freeway and one of the big rigs caught fire, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Burbank firefighters responded and extinguished the flames. No injuries were immediately reported, the CHP said.

The impact of the crash caused the axles to break off one of the big rigs, the CHP said.

Details of what led up to the crash were not disclosed.

Traffic was being diverted off the northbound Golden State Freeway at Empire Avenue until further notice.
