Three shootings in the South Los Angeles area Wednesday left two men dead and one person injured, but it was not immediately clear if the attacks were related.
The first shooting occurred about 12:40 p.m. near the intersection of South Hoover and West 58th streets, according to Officer Mike Lopez of the Los Angeles Police Department.
Two male suspects drove up alongside the victim and fired multiple rounds at him in his car before fleeing, Lopez said.
The victim, who was not immediately identified, was pronounced dead at a hospital, according to Lopez.
Officers believe the shooting was gang-related, and asked people to stay clear of the area while they investigated.
A second shooting in the area, near West 111th Street and South Western Avenue, left one man dead at 2:53 p.m., according to Deputy Marvin Crowder of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. No suspects were in custody.
About a mile away, near 109th Street and Vermont Avenue, one person was injured in a shooting about 3:45 p.m., Crowder said, but further information was not immediately available.
