Three shootings in South Los Angeles Wednesday left two people dead and one person injured, but it was not immediately clear if the shootings were related.
The first shooting occurred about 12:40 p.m. near the intersection of South Hoover and West 58th streets, according to Officer Mike Lopez of the Los Angeles Police Department.
Two male suspects drove up to the victim and fired multiple rounds at him before fleeing, Lopez said.
The victim, who was not immediately identified, was pronounced dead at a hospital, according to Lopez.
Officers believe the shooting was gang-related, and asked people to stay clear of the area while they investigate.
A second shooting in the area, near West 111th Street and South Western Avenue, left one person dead at 2:53 p.m., according to Deputy Marvin Crowder of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. No suspects are in custody.
About a mile away, near 109th Street and Vermont Avenue, one person was injured in a shooting at about 3:45 p.m., Crowder said. Further information was not available.
