A memorial procession will be held Monday to honor a Newport Beach Police Department detective who died following a two-year battle with cancer.
Detective Jon Jarema, 36, died Saturday at Hoag Memorial Hospital, the department announced.
The 5 1/2-mile procession will start at 10 a.m. at the hospital and end at Pacific View Mortuary and Memorial Park, police said.
The procession will move eastbound on Pacific Coast Highway to Jamboree Road, northbound Jamboree Road to eastbound San Joaquin Hills Road, eastbound San Joaquin Hills Road to northbound San Miguel Drive and northbound on San Miguel Drive to eastbound Pacific View Drive.
Moderate traffic delays are expected, police said.
Jarema was a 12-year veteran of the Newport Beach police department who also served as a patrol officer and SWAT team member.
