A pedestrian was fatally hit by a vehicle Thursday in Hawthorne.

Paramedics were sent to the 12600 block of Crenshaw Boulevard at 5:26 a.m., according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Hawthorne police Sgt. Chris Komathy told the Daily Breeze that the fatally injured man, believed to have been homeless and possibly in his 50s, was not in a crosswalk. Information on his identity was not immediately available.

The motorist remained on scene, and police do not believe speed, drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash, Komathy said.
