Authorities Friday identified a young man who was killed in a shooting near a taco stand in Glendale that left a boy wounded.

Police responded to a “shots fired” call near San Fernando Road and Chevy Chase Drive around 9 p.m. Wednesday and found the man down in the street, south of the intersection, according to Sgt. Christian Hauptmann of the Glendale Police Department.

Teodik Atanes, 20, died at a hospital, according to the coroner’s office. His home town was not known.

While investigating the shooting, police received a second call that a boy was taken to a hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, Hauptmann said. Broadcast reports said the boy was 10 years old, but Hauptmann could not confirm the age.

The boy is believed to have been a bystander. The suspect, who was wearing dark clothing, fled in a sedan, according to Hauptmann.

Anyone with information on the case was urged to call police at 818-548-4911, or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
