A suspect who shot at deputies was killed when they returned fire Tuesday afternoon in the unincorporated Westmont area near South Los Angeles, according to broadcast reports from the scene.
The shooting occurred about 5:15 p.m. near West 109th Street and South Budlong Avenue, according to Deputy Trina Schrader of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
Deputies approached a group of people in the area when one of them produced a gun and shot at deputies, KTLA reported. The deputies fatally struck the suspect, according to CBS2.
The sheriff’s department could not immediately confirm that the suspect was killed.
No deputies were injured.
